The Olympe gondola lift comfortably carries you to the slopes of the Méribel Valley and les 3 Vallées. When skiing here, please make sure you stay on the groomed runs or permitted off-piste itineraries, and don’t venture into the areas which are signposted as banned to skiers.
This is for your own safety, of course, as well as that of other skiers, but also to avoid disturbing the flora and fauna which find shelter and protection in these areas, especially in winter, when their food is scarce and their survival is at stake.
Ibex and chamois, which are difficult to see up close, are better adapted to winter. Red deer, roe deer and foxes will sometimes timidly appear, while the only trace of snow hares you are likely to see in daytime is their tracks in the snow.
They all need peace and quiet to get through the cold season. This is even more important since wolves have recently returned to our valleys after more than a century of absence, which creates an additional danger for them.
The playful marmots, the animals most characteristic of our mountains, remain well hidden, hibernating in their deep burrows from which they will emerge, hungry but alert, when the snow melts.
Answer the questions correctly and try to win 3 Vallées ski passes!
