Pure mountain air, spectacular views, alpine wildlife, mountain flowers, a protected environment, sport and relaxation: this is what brings people to the mountains throughout the seasons.
But in our valley, as in les 3 Vallées, in addition to the incomparable size and variety of the largest ski area in the world, there is a further element: conviviality.
This is epitomised by the naturally welcoming atmosphere and, after all, this is France, the home of good food and gastronomy! This ranges from the simplest to the most elaborate meal, always shared with family and friends!
This could be a picnic in the sunshine at one of the many rest areas on the slopes, or a hearty dish of local diot sausages, crozets or tartiflette on the terrace of a mountain restaurant before returning to the slopes.
Or, back in the resort, tea time treats or pre-dinner drinks, shared with your ‘tribe’ by an open fire as you recount your day's skiing.
On Thursdays during the school holidays, families can enjoy one of the free shows for young children.
At dinner time, there is no shortage of restaurants, take-aways and ready-prepared meals in the valley, offering a variety of cuisines, from the lightest to the most refined, and from the most traditional to the most exotic, according to your tastes.
Those with the most energy may, depending on what’s on, go and watch a torchlight descent by the ski school, go and support the "Bouquetins" ice-hockey team playing a home game at the Parc Olympique, or attend one of the jazz and blues concerts held on Tuesdays during the high season in the Auditorium at the Tourist Office.
Then it will be time to go home and get ready for another great day in les 3 Vallées!
